Labor Story

Our Labor story

Labor could not have happened on a better day or time. I was told only 5 percent of babies are born on their due date and then we decided to top that and have him on a holiday! So that makes him one in a million!

5:30 am: I woke up with contractions. They were not incredible painful but they were there and I knew that we were having this baby today. I crawled into bed and slowly woke Michael up and said “sweetie, its baby day.” He of course BOLTED out of bed! We got ready and took a shower, while we timed the contractions. They started to get closer together about 8 minutes apart and more painful so we made our way to the hospital.

7:00am we let our families know what was going on, in the half an hour drive to the hospital. I don’t think anyone slept after that.

We got checked in and admitted, they told me I was dilated to a 3 and 80 percent effaced. I was disappointed and worried they were just going to send me home. I tried to relax and deal with the contractions. I had horrible back contractions (because Brock was facedown) and it was so incredible painful I can’t even believe that people go through that without an epidural!

Just after 9:30 they checked me again. I was dilated to a 5 and 90 percent effaced. And could now have an epidural! That whole procedure was strange to me. And they had a tricky time because I was so tense. I had the most painful contraction while she was doing her thing. So she had to wait for a while. After she finished I was able to relax I turned to Michael and said “ I am so grateful for epidurals”  we had a good laugh

My doctor came in right after and broke my water. Brock had had his first bowel movement. Which was something to worry about incase he swallowed it. It can cause lots of breathing problems.

They checked me again about 10:30 and I had only dilated to a 5 ½ and hadn’t effaced anymore. So they started me on Pitocin.

12:50 pm we let our friends know we were going to make it to the fourth of July BBq since I was dilated to an 8 and fully effaced!

At 2:30 we were ready to start pushing. The nurse was really bad at telling me what to do. Or I was bad at following. But we basically just pretended around until my doctor came in and gave me a tutorial on pushing. (she is a funny lady)

Well it turns out I have a very prominent tail bone and he was stuck on it, face down. We ended up pushing from 2:30pm-4:48pm. A couple of times the nurse asked my doctor if I could do this. It made me mad enough to push even harder. I wasn’t about to work this hard to have her deliver me C section. She always gave her a funny look and said on she can do it.

I remember when they finally thought he was coming out everyone started rushing around and a bunch of people came in. I don’t know if it scared me or motivated me but I was sure in shock.

4:48pm Baby Brock was born! He was a lot bigger (8lbs 6oz) than anyone expected, and calmer. They were trying to get him to cry to make sure he was breathing ok and he just looked around. I of course started crying and Michael wouldn’t let go of my hand until Dr. Pilgrim said “Where is your camera!? Go take pictures!” He did, while they stitched my up. I had a half 3rd episitomy. Lots of stiches! They didn’t let me hold him right away because they were worried about his breathing. They did let me hold him for a min after they assessed him and then they took him up to the nursery to watch him and make sure everything was ok.  Longest hour and a half of my life.

I am very greatful for a lot of things that happened this day:

l we had a full nights rest before leaving to the hospital and I was showered and clean!

That Michael was there and the calming encouraging person that he is

That we were able to have my doctor (we didn’t like the other doctors) deliver me and that she believed in me so much.

That I was able to deliver Vaginally

That despite the fact that they were worried about his breathing he has been a perfectly healthy baby boy.

That Christie and Adam rushed up from Florida, cleaned my house and brought Michael food so he didn’t starve.

All Family we had here and all the help that they were.

And all the Love and prayers from everyone else, family and friends!

and I am very greatful for our baby Brock Jordan Cole
(by the way his middle name is Jordan after the Jordan river temple that we were Married in)
Getting to hold him for real after he got back from the Nursery (weird face but I had to put it on here because of how much I wrapped him in my arms)

Michael is such a Tease!

I, Krystal, would just like to say how I love my husband. He is kind and I know he loves me dearly. But when it comes down to teasing his family HE CANNOT RESIST! I promise you all he didn't leave my toes like that and that he spent his time doing each one.
the PROOF! (Thanks for bugging him into doing it!)

I DID IT

I was so scared and unsure about painting Krystal's toenails for her. I wasn't sure if I would be able to do it on my own.  But my family was so supportive and I pulled through and did it because of them.  Allison said its just like painting.  Krystal said I did such a good job she will let me paint her nails all the time.  I was so happy I was able to really come through and make this a reality.

Walking Around the Neighborhood

Our Neighborhood is so cute! It has awesome houses and we have enjoyed going for walks outside at night. We had to take pictures!!

The ZOO is in our Neighborhood too!

Pretty cute Neighbors huh :)

New Place

As you may know we moved into a new place. We are so excited to be out of our other apartment! This new place is so neat. Its right by the zoo, Michaels school, and a really cool park. The neighborhood is really nice and its so much more comfortable here.
We finally have everything unpacked and put away, and we wanted to share a few pictures of it with you, so you can see what its like.
The living room/ dinning room.
(We love the big window. You can watch squirrels and birds outside)

Babys room/ spare bedroom (bug Michael about putting the bed skirt on for me)
The front

Stepping out of the back door (We have a YARD!! and a carport)

Our garden: Basil, Thai peppers and flowers (there is a pot with Tomatoes on the other side.)

The only thing I dont love about this place is that the kitchen is TINY and it is right as you walk in the back door. I am pretty sure it was a mud room. If I started a food blog it would have to be called "In the Mudroom kitchen"

Finals

Michael and his friends decided to "Suit up" for their last day of finals on the last day of their first year.

(He is so cute in a bow tie)
                                          Class of 2015

Michael did SO well this year in school, even better this semester than the last semester! I am really proud of him.

A lot has happened in the last few weeks....

I feel like the whole month of April was a crazy month, but its even gotten into May now too! So here is an update of our craziness.

Michael was playing soccer with intramurals at his school. They were really good; they really played so well together and made a really good team. I tried to get a good video of Michael but he was mostly the Goalie so I got a couple videos of scores against him. None of the videos will load though sorry. (its really hard to try and video indoor soccer I decided)

This is the team, the won 2nd place (that’s why some of them have "2" they aren’t peace signs)

We decided to get a Memphis Zoo pass (which means lots of pictures of animals on our blog) it will be fun when people come to visit us ...hint hint.
Because we have a pass we got to go see the Pandas, which was awesome! (They cost extra on free days)

We went with some friends from School it was a nice day out.

Next was our Anniversary! Michael had school in the morning but when he got home we had to get out of the house, because we had pest control come (they come every 3 months)  We went out to lunch and then to Michaels’ school so he could practice an eye exam on me for upcoming test. Next we went to the ZOO! This time we went and saw a Sea Lion show that they do there.
They are so smart!
We were taking a break in a Lodge in the Teton Trek, when Michael looked up and noticed that the grizzly bears where wrestling. So we had to go see!
and a 30 week baby bump
We went out to eat for dinner and than to a Cheap Movie! It was a fun but long day, and I was so tired when I got home.

They day after our Anniversary was not as fun.... I ended up getting food poisoning from the Dinner the night before. At first it wasn’t so bad, I just felt crummy and just had one of the symptoms of food poisoning but as the day went on everything got worse. I stopped being able to keep even water in my body and threw up everything I tried to eat. At 2:30ish Michael got home and got me some crackers and Gatorade. I ate them and instantly felt better. The doctors called back and they told me if I can keep everything down then I should be ok to not go to the hospital. I thought I was in the clear until about 5:30 and I lost everything. So we headed to the hospital. It was the first time I have ever had an IV (that I remember) and it wasn't fun. They monitored Brock and his heart rate was way to fast, I have never seen my belly move so much when they put the monitors on him. I was a lot sicker then anyone thought. This made me cry, it wasn’t just me dealing with this but my poor baby!
After they gave me a few bags of fluids and some medicine, they sent us up to Labor and Delivery. Luckily after the fluids is heart beat gone down and I was only having Braxton Hick contractions.
It was about Midnight before they decided to let us go, I felt a ton better. Poor Michael had his first final at 8 the next morning. It wasn't easy to try and study at the hospital or be up so late. Luckily he was able to not only pass but do really good!
On Monday we had another Doctors appointment she described Brocks heart rate as Perfect! Music to my ears. I was still dehydrated but doing much better and just needed to “focus focus focus” on fluids.
Our Prayers were answered.

Baby Boyce

Among the list of people I got to visit with (when I made my trip to Utah) one of which, was my nephew Maximus. I was really excited to see him, and was so sad when we had to go. He really is a beautiful tiny baby and I am pleased to say he is doing much better. He even opened his eyes for me! Which made me gasp and scare everyone around us. (sorry about that)

I had a great visit with everyone, I got to see lots of family! I had a lot of fun visiting with my in laws as well.

Exciting weekend

So it was really only exciting for Saturday night and into Sunday morning. We where driving down a road near our house to the Asian Market :) and we saw that the Drive in theater was open every night of the week now. So we came home and looked it up. We wanted to see the Hunger Games anyways (well I did, Michael enjoyed it too) So we thought lets GO!!
So we packed up our car and headed down.

I decided to take a picture outside of the car since most likely I would get stuck... lol

It was a very fun night!

Before the movie was over I got a text from my sisters boyfriend Solomon saying that Britney was having contractions and was most likely going to have the baby that night. So the rest of the night  we held on to the phone until we recieved word of any changes or news
At about 4:30 our time, 3:30 there time we get a text that she did infact have her baby. at 1:58 am, he was 2lbs 1 oz and 14 1/4 inches long.
He is doing much better then anyone expected, and is simply an amazing little boy. :)
