Christmas Day/Olsen Family visit (Christmas Vacation part 2)

Christmas day was so nice. We were so thankful to be there relaxing and spending time with our family. We all had fun looking at our stockings Thank you Melissa! And then we took turns opening presents from whoever had each other for Christmas (Tiffany had us!), from Mom and Dad Cole, and from Grandma and Granddad Navarro. We were spoiled! (Thank you everyone)

We had wonderful meals and all hung around in our pajamas. :) Everyone had fun playing with Brock and he had a blast hanging out with everyone! Josh and Kyle got him laughing a bunch. Later that day we started planning our trip to Utah. When we checked the weather it buzzed with weather warnings, 12 inches in the mountain passes and we had to get through one. So we were getting worried about not making it down there. And I let my family know that we might not make it that day like we had planned. My sister texted back and said well your vacation is chalking up to be awesome.

Luckily the next day; even though it was snowing, it didn’t seem to be too bad. It was a slower storm than anticipated. And we started down in the afternoon (the warmest part of the day so we didn’t have to deal with ice too), it honestly wasn’t bad until we hit the Utah border then it started to be a lot worse. We made it safely though.

We went to my parents’ house and had a lot of fun looking through our stockings. (Thanks Mom and Dad)  And then we did our gift exchange as well. We had my mom and Evalynn. And Keith had Michael and Brit had me (Thanks Guys!!). We all went over to my sister’s house for a picture, since Max has to be on house arrest. And we stayed the night at my brother’s place.
Last December we got a picture of me and my sister point to our bellies with which number of grandchild we were having. They ended up switching places.
Babies so excited to see each other!

The next day we all got cleaned and headed over for lunch with my sister and hanging out with her two kids. Evalynn loved Brock and the 2 boys had fun together. Max is such a cute happy boy! I am so excited for them to play together soon.

We had dinner with my family, and hung out till Brock's bed time then headed back over to my brothers. We watched some TV and chatted with them.

The next day we had Breakfast with my family then went to Logan and spent some time with our friends. It was nice to see everyone and we wished that we could have visited longer.

On Saturday we hung out with family and visited some friends in Brigham. Then headed up for the baby blessing which was early the next day. And we all went to Chilies for dinner together.

Thanks everyone for everything! We had such a great Christmas. I wish I really could express how thankful we are for all that was done for us.

Christmas Trip (Utah and Idaho part 1) getting there

That’s right "getting to Idaho" gets its own blog post, that’s how crazy it was! So it starts out on the 23rd of December. Craig a friend of ours dropped us off at the airport at 12:30 pm. We went to check in and something is wrong with our ticket so we wait at another kiosk for United, finally we talked to them and they said something else was wrong so to go back where we were in the first place. So we waited in the other line... and FINALLY checked in. after a good hour. Brock fell asleep before we got on the plane and then woke up because of the announcements and was grumpy on the plane. He did enjoy it for a few minutes but was done pretty fast and then screamed for the last 20 minutes. We got to Charlotte NC and we booked it to the bathroom and then to the gate. Michael and I got separated because I headed to the closest bathroom to the next gate and he meant to go to the bathroom next to the gate we were coming out of. But we made it, boarded and took off to Denver. Brock slept the whole trip (3 hours) (which was hot and uncomfortable for me) but I played on Michael’s phone so it was okay. And Michael slept off and on. On the way down this time Brock had blow out.
We got to Denver at 8 pm. We waited at the gate until about time to board. Watching as slowly flights were canceled here and there. I knew something was up when I saw that our flight wasn't on the board anymore and sure enough it was delayed 1 hour. We just looked at each other oh well that’s okay at least it wasn't canceled. 45 minutes later, it was canceled. It was about 10:30 (11:30 for us) by this time. Everyone swarmed the customer service. We found a lady at a boarding gate near us and talked to her. Lucky for us she was a supervisor, and she thought Brock was adorable. We were never told why it was canceled for sure. I heard someone say "Crew". Whatever that means.
By midnight we got a hotel voucher, meal vouchers and 2 tickets for standby for Idaho Falls the next day. She told us if we didn't get on those flights to come find her again. We made it to the hotel about 12:30 and just passed out. Brock didn't sleep well that night at all, and had to sleep with us since they didn't have a crib. I woke up at 6:30 with a bloody nose. We got ready after that and we got to the airport at 9 and made it through security quickly. Waited at the gate for an 11:30 flight to Idaho Falls. Everyone was boarding and we were the first on standby. 10 mins left and there were 2 people who were not on the flight! 2 mins later they showed up and we went to go get our standby tickets for Salt Lake.
The customer service guy would not let us go to Salt Lake however because our bags were in Idaho Falls. So we waited around until our airport friend got to work. She was definitely our blessing in this mess. She made sure we had everything we could have needed while we waited for a flight, but we were getting low on diapers and we didn't think we could wait one more day without finding some more. There were no diapers to be found at the airport though... So she just used her powers to kick some people off that flight and get them on the first flight the next morning. She walked with Michael across the Airport so that she could tell me and Brock the good news. She gave us our tickets and I started singing Willy Wonka "I've got the golden ticket." at 7 pm the 24th of December (23 hours later) we made it on the flight. Luckily we didn't ruin anyone else Christmas they let some 2 year olds sit on parent’s laps and a storm delayed another flight. We made it to Idaho Falls at 8:45, to a big welcome crew. We had to wait around forever to find our luggage and made it home at about 10. Starving and tired, but sooo HAPPY to be there!

Brocks Blessing Day

Today was Brock's Blessing day. We are so blessed to have such an amazing baby boy. We love him so much. We were so lucky to have be able to bless him with our famly around us.
Brock was blessed in the Garfield 5th ward. Michael did the blessing at it was wonderful. So many things to look forward to.
Happy family!

We had a brunch after the blessing, we had all kinds of fruit and fruit dip, cream puffs, mini quiches, and muffins. It turned out wonderful.

Thank you to everyone who came! There was so much family here but we missed all that couldn't make it. They were certainly here in spirit. We love you all!

St.Jude Marathon and more fun.

We are feeling even luckier that we live in such a cool spot. I mean who doesn’t love a zoo within walking distance, but 2 parks, beautiful houses, and we found out that the St. Jude marathon is on our street. So on the first of December the St Jude hospital has a marathon, mile marker number 7 and 22 was at our house. Not only were there runners but the church across the street had a live band which was pretty good. And Santa ran around hanging out with people.

Our awesome next door neighbor threw a brunch and invited her friends and us to come over.  We watched until Brock needed a nap but left the window up to watch and occasionally went back outside and chatted with them. It was a fun day. What a good cause to run, and we saw some amazing people running it.

Some pictures:

Family photo December 1st 2012

you should ask Michael how he took this picture: (it involved a stool upside down, sticks, leaves, and tape.) He is our own MacGyver!

So that was a couple weeks ago. Since then we have been finally getting all better (thank goodness), playing, getting ready for Christmas, School, Friends, and Finals! Not to mention our excitement for our big trip out west coming up soon!

And what would a post be without a video and some new pictures of our Brock?

He thinks its hilarious looking at you upside down!

getting into things and loving it. (ok mom helped him get into this mess. but not this one:)
Pulled mostly everything off the chair.

Speaks for itself. LOVED IT too.  He must be related to Aunt Wishead. :)

Already knows how to "cheese it"

5 months

If you want him to smile, Bark like a dog. I did and I got this picture.

He weighs about 19 lbs. Size 3 in diapers and 6-9 months in clothes

Our cute boy is 5 months old! This month has been a big month for him! We love watching him grow and having him experience new things

His toes! He loves chewing on his toes now. Which can be bad if his nails aren’t trimmed. His legs are just full of scratches

He realized mom took a picture.

Sticking his little "bear bum" in the air!

If he is ever upset take a picture of him. He will be much more interested in the camera than his tantrum (which usually means I put clothes on him.)

Loves helping mom with the laundry, going for rides and hanging out in the laundry basket

He loves playing with toys and doing silly things with them. He certainly has his favorite toys but always loves getting new toys

Our little guy has been in 4 states and is only 5 months old. He did amazing on the road trip, took naps, played with his toys, and just did great.

Michael calls him "Scooter" because that is exactly what he has been up to this month Scooting around.

He loves people and animals. So far he has never been frightened or afraid of anyone or anything. he will go to strangers just fine, he smiles at anyone who smiles at him, and will laugh and reach for kids. He did cry when our neighbor was holding him but I think that’s because he was sick and tired.

The doctor told us once he started to get used to using a spoon we can give him some more food.
It took about 4 weeks, but now he is very good at it. He started with fruits but honestly doesn’t like them. (I probably had too much when I was pregnant with him since that’s what I craved; I honestly ate 2 watermelons by myself, in a week.) But he loves veggies; green beans have been his favorite as well as carrots, peas and sweet potatoes he liked way more than apples. He does like bananas though.

He has been very sick this month. He got a nasty cold and it’s turned into a nasty cough. He can’t breathe very good out of his nose in this picture. He has been to the doctor 2 times but of course he’s all smiles at them because they are new and exciting and they are smiling at him. So I think the doctors think we are all crazy for bringing him in, and as soon as they leave he starts crying again.

He loves to suck in his bottom lip all the time!

He has been sleeping better. on average about 5 1/2 hour streches and then a little nap in the morning. Naps are a little bit of a stuggle but he isnt as fussy if he doesn't get a really good one.

He is sitting up better but still cant support his whole wieght for very long.

He rolls over a lot more and can do it if he wants to.

Still is jabbering away

Will look at mom or dad if you ask where is mom?? or where is dad??

Loves hearing songs. For a fun song his favorite is Old Mcdonald. and for sleepy songs he likes You are my sunshine, Tomorrow (from annie) and I am a child of god.
