My doctor made us an appointment for a induction for Friday September 27th. at 8:30am. Which ended up being the day after Amy came to help us. She also stripped my membranes in hope I would go into labor myself. She called William lazy since I had been almost a 3 dilated for about 3 weeks, and still no baby. We had a day with Amy so we went out to eat all together and went to optifest to get Amy some glasses.
The day of the 27th we got Brock his medication and got all ready and left. I was nervous but it was nice to be able to prepare myself mentally. I felt like I was stressing out about this day so much, mostly finding people to watch Brock (I had people on call all times of the day.) So it was nice to go to the hospital knowing Amy didn't have anywhere else to be and she could just be with him.
I noticed that I was having contractions Thursday night into that morning.
We got there at 8 and got all checked in. It happened all pretty fast, but it was weird to just relax and soak it all in instead of being in pain and begging for an epidural.
by 9 I was hooked to an IV and labor had officially started. I was 80 percent effaced and dilated to a 3 1/2. She said I would of probably gone into labor myself that day.
And she broke my water about 9:10
I was stationed at a -1
at 11 I got an epidural, I was at a 4 1/2 dilated and fully effaced.
At about 11:15 I was put on oxygen and Will was given another monitor so that they could monitor him better.
At 12:15 I was dilated to a 6, and during the next hour I was experiencing some major cramping.
I told the nurse when she came back in about 1:15ish and she checked and I was between an 8-9 dilated.
The nurse had mentioned she would let the baby get farther done in the birth canal so I wouldn't have to push for too long. I was nervous about pushing well everything and told her all about it. I feel a little bad now.
The doctor came to check on me about 1:35 I was fully dilated and stationed to a -3. Everyone started getting the room ready. The Doctor left to get prepared and the nurse got the room ready. when the doctor didn't come right back the nurse thought she might want to do a practice push with me. She got me all ready and then realized that she could see Wills head and yelled at me to not push! She paged the Doctor and the Techs and baby Nurse.
They all got there really fast, and we started pushing. After about 2 whole contractions he was mostly out and crying she told me to give it one more push and he was here! At 1:53 pm William Adam Cole was born, he was so pink and plump everyone tried to guess his weight. All guessed about 9 lbs which I guess wasn't too far off since he was 8lbs 11oz and was 20 1/2 inches long.
We had an hour with him down stairs which I just soaked everything up. I didn't want to be on the phone or anything. I did want to make sure Brock was OK though, so Michael called Amy. Other then that I just enjoyed him for about an hour then let some family know.
We got upstairs and Will left to get a bath and inspected. I let some friends and more family know. When he got back I was able to Skype with some family and Michael went to go get Brock. I was definitely just enjoying this little boy so much. I knew he belonged with our family.
Michael, Amy, and Brock came soon after and we all just hung out until it was time for Brock to go home and get his medication and go to bed. That night was a little rough with people coming in and out all night and missing my own home. I was glad I wasn't in very much pain.
The next morning was busy but everyone just kept commenting on how great we both were doing. My doctor who also did Williams circumcision, mentioned that we could probably go home that day. I was all for it because I knew Brock and I would do so much better at home. We had lots of fun visitors who kept me company when Michael was home with Brock, and when they were there too. At about 5pm we got the go ahead to go home. It still took everyone about 2 1/2 hours after but we eventually we all made it home and got to bed.
Poor Brock so ready for bed!
I really cannot express how thankful I am for how amazing everything went. It feels like luck but I know it was Heavenly father blessing us.
I know that we couldn't of done it without him.
All of the nurses were amazing, they were all so full of encouraging words and I think every one of them I really talked to had kids as close or closer in age. One had 3 in 12 months. (twins!!)
My favorite doctor Delivered me, same that delivered Brock.
Amy was here! This has been a huge blessing and she seriously has been the biggest help. Brock LOVES her! And he was an angel for her during my hospital stay. I know I am going to cry when she has to go back home.
My recovery has been really good. I feel so much better not being pregnant but also I feel like it was a lot less hard on me then I was thinking.
Will is such a sweet baby. Definitely a cuddlier.
I could go on and on about all these things that have worked out. I am still just in awe. I almost don't know what to do with myself.
p.s. thanks Amy for being an awesome photographer!
