Chattanooga trip

So we decided to take a trip during Michael's break from school. He was off Thursday and Friday so we didn't want to drive too far and wanted to go somewhere new. I have been craving nature, I am not sure if that is weird or not but I really miss the mountains and being able to see the beautiful world that we live in so close to us. Something I really took for granted in Logan. We decided on Chattanooga. Bonus points for Michael because it has a lot of Civil War history as well. We got there Thursday late afternoon and stayed until Sunday late morning. Here are some pictures (photo dump style) of our trip:

A military park about the battles here on Look Out Mtn. 

both the Confederates and the Union had Look Out Mtn. at one point. There was a huge battle fought right on the mountain itself . The Confederates had the Mtn. first and Union attacked. They seized the area and the Confederates retreated to missionary ridge. 

5824 soldiers and officers from the Union armies were killed wounded or missing after the Look Out Battle

6667 of the Confederate armies were killed, wounded or missing.

 On our way to Signal Mountain the gas light went on and I started to freak thinking we were going to be stuck on the Mountain. We got to the top and there was a this Old Time gas station.

 Signal Mountain also has some Civil War history. It was used by the Union forces while the Confederates were laying siege to Chattanooga. They used flame and smoke signals along the canyon to send messages. That's how it got the name Signal Mountain.

 Ready to go inside a Cave and see the Largest waterfall in a cave in the US: Ruby Falls. In 1928 a guy named Leo Lambert was exploring the Look Out Mtn. cave and discovered Ruby falls (after Crawling for 7 hrs, Round trip the trip took 17 hrs.) He named the waterfall after his Wife Ruby. They also found some amazing rock structures and pools.

 Driving around Chattanooga this is a famous Hotel the Chattanooga Choo Choo. I guess you can sleep in the Train cars

We went to this fun little restaurant that was an Old Coke factory. The Mellow Mushroom, we got "Thai Dye" flavored pizza (Michael says this was delicious)

Summer Pictures

We got a watermelon from a fruit stand and decided to take some pictures with Brock eating the watermelon. For a fun summer shoot, and since it was what I was eating 1 year ago today and I couldn't not get enough of it. It was my #1 craving! Even if it wasn't a craving its the best dang watermelon we have ever had! We really thought he would go crazy but he was so cute just tearing it about at first.
